Summit Charter School is growing – and this year, as the school celebrates 30 years of education, that growth is especially visible.
Across its 33-acre campus, new spaces are expanding what is possible for Summit students. With gratitude to generous supporters, the revitalized Summit Field is now complete and in use, and the new Pavilion building has added a flexible, multipurpose space for Middle School gathering, learning, athletics, and community events. Together, these facilities represent more than new buildings and fields; they give Summit students more opportunities to learn, play, gather, and grow in complement to Summit’s existing spaces: dedicated K-8 and High School campuses, athletic and fine arts facilities, green spaces, and forested trails.
The school’s student population has grown, too. With approximately 360 students enrolled this year, drawing from five WNC counties, Summit has increased its enrollment by 50 percent since 2019. Behind the growing K-12 student population is a committed team, growing in step: Summit’s faculty and staff now number nearly 60 educators and professionals dedicated to the students each day, with an average of seven years in service to the school.
Summit’s growth did not happen overnight. It is the accumulation of three decades of commitment, heart, hard work, and resources from founding members, families, community members, and generous supporters. Growth, however, is most meaningful when it can be sustained. The Summit Charter School Foundation is growing an endowment to support the school’s future with intentional focus on three vital pillars of its mission: People, Places, and Programs.
Summit Charter School is proud to be growing thoughtfully, building intentionally, and planning for the decades ahead. Thirty years, and still climbing.
