Except for the COVID years, the Art League of Highlands-Cashiers has sponsored the Fall Colors Fine Art Show for more than two decades.
It’s a draw for regular visitors as far away as South Florida (some even plan their trips to Highlands around it), and it is an unexpected treat for other visitors who did not previously know about it. Of course, local patrons look forward to its return every year. Some of the best local and regional artists will return this year, along with several first-time exhibitors.
This is a juried event of about 30 Art League members who qualify for acceptance. To be sure, there will be fine paintings in oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, and pencil, but there will also be works in mixed-media, wood, clay, fiber, photography, as well as one-of-a-kind jewelry.
This year, the show will take place on Saturday and Sunday, October 17-18, 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. both days. As usual, the location is the Highlands Civic Center at the Rec Park. This indoor venue has plenty of free parking. Admission is free, and 100 percent of donations collected will be used for youth scholarships to various local art programs.
It’s always been a mission of the Art League to promote art among area youth.
Whether you’re looking for fine art for your home, searching for a unique gift, or simply enjoying a day of browsing, the Fall Colors Fine Art Show offers something for everyone.
