Highlands Food and Wine Festival

Local chefs will be offering the dishes that have made The Highlands-Cashiers Plateau a Foodie’s Mecca during November’s Highlands Food & Wine Festival.

November 9 through 12 are the dates for this year’s Highlands Food & Wine Festival.  If last year’s event is any indication, it’s going to be  one heck of a party.

The schedule for this four-day celebration is jam-packed with food, wine, live music, and it all kicks off with the Grand Tasting, November 9, at Kelsey-Hutchinson Founders Park on Pine Street in downtown Highlands.  Chefs from around the area will be offering up their finest and guests will be seeing lots of familiar faces.

Sip and savor the tastes from Andrew Figel of On the Verandah and Chris Huerta of Madison’s Restaurant and Wine Garden.

Also from Highlands will be Jerry Moore of Kilwin’s; Ristorante Paoletti’s own Kevin Paoletti; and Wolfgang Green of Wolfgang’s on Main.

Cashiers will be represented by Johannes Klapdohr of The Library Restaurant and Bar and Adam Hayes of Canyon Kitchen.

Each of these talented chefs has developed a following for their commitment to fresh, innovative dishes and their passion for creating carefully crafted dining experiences.  Their résumés read as a veritable who’s who of talent on The Plateau and nowhere else will you be able to experience such delectable dishes in one place.

Not from the mountains, but still from “The Old North State,” will be Gary Crunkleton. The Crunkleton is a private club located in Chapel Hill that makes the old new again by serving up classic cocktails with modern twists.  Visitors at The Crunkleton can choose from a selection of over 500 distilled spirits, many mixed with the same techniques and ingredients as when they were first popularized; and Gary will be serving up a few of his favorites to ticket holders for The Grand Tasting.

The weekend continues on Friday with Sip & Stroll and the outdoor Truckin’ event. Saturday’s Sip & Stroll will continue and The Main Event will take place on Main Street.  Sunday’s The Gospel Brunch will be located at The Piermont Cottage at noon.
