The Rotary Club of Highlands enjoyed a presentation from fellow Rotarian, Sue Blair of Carpe Diem Farms. Sue opened Carpe Diem Farms, off Buck Creek Rd, in 1991. Her goal at this meeting: to educate and raise awareness of equine abuse, slaughter, and neglect. Sue’s Carpe Diem Farm provides a ‘sanctuary’ for rescued horses.
Sue attributes learning the most important things in life from her equine friends and the more than 4,000 people she has been blessed to work with over the years. “My work, which I’ve developed over my lifetime has all been because of my relationship with what I believe to be the most sentient being – the horse.”
Sue also supports the Save America’s Forgotten Equines Act, known as SAFE Act, with intent to keep horses out of the slaughter pipeline.
