The Highlands Chamber of Commerce/Visit Highlands, NC is proud to announce that Mayor Pat Taylor has officially proclaimed Wednesday, October 15, 2025, as Support Your Local Chamber of Commerce Day in the Town of Highlands.
As communities across the country mark this annual observance, the Highlands Chamber underscores the value chambers bring to local economies, backed by recent public opinion data:
• According to the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE)/Harris Poll survey of U.S. adults conducted in September 2024, 70% of respondents agree that their local chamber of commerce makes their community a better place to live.
• The survey also found that 62% say the chamber is important for helping small businesses succeed.
• Three in five feel that being active in a local chamber of commerce is an effective strategy for businesses to demonstrate that they are reputable, suggest they are involved in their local community and show they use good business practices.
In his proclamation, Mayor Taylor affirmed that chambers of commerce:
• Provide leadership in tackling community challenges through collaboration.
• Help boost economic vitality and improve quality of life.
• Serve as a trusted resource for businesses, residents, and other stakeholders; and
• Foster partnerships that enhance resilience and sustainable growth.
Founded in 1931, the Highlands Chamber now represents nearly 250 businesses and organizations. Through advocacy, events, and strategic collaborations, the Chamber continues its mission to strengthen Highlands as both an outstanding place to live and a thriving destination for visitors.
