Cashiers has always been a town that knows how to celebrate the essentials: mountain views, good neighbors, and a well-built burger.
But this spring, the most delicious tradition is leveling up. After years of hearing the same heartfelt plea – “We need more time to eat more burgers!” – the organizers have responded with the kind of generosity only a small town with a big appetite can muster.

Welcome to Cashiers Burger Week: The Extended Cut, running April 24 through May 9. That’s two full weeks, 13 restaurants, and enough creative patties to make even the most devoted carnivore consider a training regimen.

This year’s lineup is split into two rounds, like a doublestacked burger with a breather in the middle.

Week One runs April 24–May 2, followed by Week Two from May 2–9.

And on May 13, once everyone has recovered from their culinary heroics, the community will gather for a Wrap Party at Slopeside Tavern in Sapphire, where bragging rights – and perhaps antacids – will be shared freely.

Of course, an event this ambitious doesn’t materialize out of thin mountain air. The Cashiers Burger Week Planning Committee has been quietly flipping the switches behind the scenes. Nicolle Fogarty of Slopeside Tavern brings the restaurant savvy; Jill Katz of Crossroads Custard and the Chamber Board adds logistical magic; Mary Whitten Warner of Landmark Realty Group keeps the momentum sizzling on social media; and Sean Cronin – Christmas Parade judge, proud Irishman, Guinness enthusiast, and Leadership Cashiers Advisory Council member – lends the same discerning eye he uses on parade floats. The committee also includes Heather Dalton, Chamber Visitor Host and Susan Sapienza, Chamber Executive Director.

And then there are the originators: Justin Smith and Ann Novitske of Whiteside Brewing Co., whose spark of an idea, nurtured by Thomas Taulbee, grew into one of Cashiers’ signature spring events. What began as a fun community challenge has become a full-blown festival of flavor, creativity, and friendly competition.

As always, diners are invited to eat, vote, and win prizes from local restaurants and shops. The categories – Best Burger and Most Creative Burger – inspire everything from classic perfection to wild, only-in-Cashiers experiments. (If someone debuts a burger topped with pimento cheese and a philosophical question about the nature of spring, we won’t be surprised.)

So loosen your belt, gather your friends, and prepare your taste buds. Cashiers Burger Week: Extended Cut is ready to roll, and the Cashiers Area communities are hungry.
