Truck on Down to the Bascom

Highlands Food and Wine Festival is back November 8–11 and if you haven’t gotten your tickets, you’d better hurry. Some events are already sold out!
Friday, November 9, make plans to attend Truckin’ – the festival’s outdoor music and food truck event, this year held at The Bascom: A Center for the Visual Arts in downtown Highlands.
The Bascom and Highlands Food and Wine entered this new partnership for several reasons, all of which are a boon to both the organizations and festival-goers.
Moving the event to The Bascom makes it so much easier for people to attend, you can simply walk down Main Street to the covered bridge leading to the center.
Organizer Casey Reid of Eleven Events explains, “We know that The Bascom is the perfect partner and location for Truckin’ and that it will contribute to the event experience and continue Truckin’s tradition of a totally unique and creative space.”
The Bascom plans to feature the A Matter of Taste exhibition during this time. The subject matter is food, and how it affects every aspect of human culture, life, and community. Finally, The Bascom will be collecting donations for the Highlands Food Pantry during this exhibition, HFW’s charitable partner.
The Bascom Shop will be curating a series of Atrium pop up demonstrations in the spirit of the Matter of Taste exhibit, connecting local, regional, and national artists, chefs, and distilleries. The idea behind these pop up demonstrations is to showcase relationships between various culinary and aesthetic art forms, pairing chefs and alcohol with art, the way one pair’s food with wine.
The Lone Bellow will be back in Highlands for Truckin’ with their wildly popular brand of indie-folk rock. Having performed at the festival in 2016, the trio’s enthusiastic fan base will fill the grounds of The Bascom to hear music from their new arrangements of favorites, as well as their latest unrecorded songs.
Food trucks from around the region will be on hand to offer up a wide variety of festival food. Nobody will go hungry at Truckin’ and your ticket includes it all.
