If you’ve ever wanted to get up close and personal with some of Nashville’s best songwriters, now’s your chance. The 12th Annual Nashville Songwriters’ Round is being held Saturday, September 9, at Trillium Links & Lake Club in Cashiers.
Highlighting the evening is Rivers Rutherford, a staple on Universal Music Publishing’s roster since 1996. Having grown up in the shadow of Elvis’ Graceland homestead of Memphis, Rutherford has country music in his blood. He landed his first cut with American legends Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson (a.k.a. The Highwaymen); and you’ll see his name on songs by Dolly Parton, Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, and Lady Antebellum along with a host of others. He’ll bring with him some of his most talented friends.
This annual fundraiser for the Blue Ridge School Educational Foundation is an evening filled with some of the best talent in Nashville, dinner, dancing, and general merriment. Proceeds from the event come from three levels of Sponsors and ticket sales, as well as individual donations. One hundred percent of net proceeds are used by the Foundation to support the school.
Last year’s funded projects include $23,500 in scholarships for grades 12 and 13; $1,500 to support the Junior Appalachian Music Program; $9,000 in digital microscopes; and $10,000 toward teacher laptops; among many others.
This is an outdoor tented event and doors open September 9 at 6:30 P.M. for the social and dinner. There is a cash bar for beer and wine and Trillium Links & Lake Club is catering the evening’s meal. The singers and songwriters then take the stage at 8:00 P.M.
