Meet the private Residences at Old Edwards – five distinct multi-bedroom homes designed to bring families and friends together for more than just a stay. They are built for reunions, celebrations, and the kind of trips that require space to unfold.

Among them, the Sequoyah Lake House stands out as a three-bedroom lakeside retreat, set just a two-mile drive from downtown along a winding, wooded drive – close enough for dinner in town, yet fully private once you arrive – a house that meets the landscape at its own level, inside and out.

The Sequoyah Lake House is designed for the specific geometry of families who actually want to be in the same place at the same time. Three bedrooms and three baths provide structure, but it’s the shared spaces that define the experience. A full kitchen anchors the Sequoyah Lake House, inviting real use – coffee made early, meals that gather everyone at once – while the dining room holds the group without compromise. The living room at the Sequoyah Lake House opens directly to a screened porch and an open-air deck, so people drift easily between the living room, porch, and deck.

At Sequoyah Lake House, the back deck becomes the center of gravity. Outfitted for lingering, with a grill ready and a broad, grassy lawn that gives the house room to breathe – space for kids to run, chairs to gather, and the kind of unplanned time that rarely happens in tighter settings. It’s where mornings stretch and evenings settle in.

From there, Sequoyah Lake House extends toward the lake. A private dock sits just beyond the grass, with kayaks and a canoe ready – no reservations, no schedule, no friction between intention and action. The lake isn’t a backdrop; it’s part of the day.

Inside Sequoyah Lake House, the design is shaped directly by its setting. “The inspiration came from the lake,” says Jeanie Macrea Claughton, Interior Designer for Old Edwards Hospitality Group. “The direction was to make guests feel exactly like the setting—calm, peaceful, quiet.”

It’s a departure for Claughton, whose previous work with Old Edwards had not centered on water, and the shift shows in the palette: light blues, pale greens, and creams that keep the interiors airy and open.

That sense of ease carries through the materials. Pickled pine paneling adds warmth and texture, while layered elements – flatweave kilim rugs, sisal runners, and natural linen drapery – keep the spaces grounded and approachable. Wicker, rattan, and bamboo furnishings mix with light woods and iron accents; off-white shearling swivel chairs soften the living room. Botanical prints and water imagery reinforce the connection throughout.

The effect is intentional but relaxed. These are rooms that feel assembled over time rather than installed all at once.

“The furnishings make you relax just as the setting does,” Claughton notes. “There’s nothing stuffy or formal in any way.”

That approach begins even before arrival: the quiet, winding drive through the woods, the house revealing itself gradually, the lake coming into view. The transition is immediate. It’s a sense of stepping away from the outside world and into something more contained, more restful.

What distinguishes Sequoyah Lake House is the balance it strikes. Guests have the privacy of a standalone home, yet full access to Old Edwards Inn and Spa amenities: heated pools and hot tubs, guided hikes, wellness classes, a fitness center, and golf at Old Edwards Club and GlenCove.

A morning might start quietly at the house and shift into town for spa treatments or a round of golf before returning to the lake. The short drive isn’t a limitation; it’s what allows the house to feel fully its own.

The broader Residences Collection expands that flexibility. Piermont Cottage offers a four-bedroom Folk Victorian estate set among gardens; Hutchinson House, dating to 1878, accommodates larger groups steps from the inn; Terrace on Main and Oak Street Terrace bring a similar private-residence experience into the center of town. Each is distinct, but all are built around the same premise: space to gather, and the freedom to do it well.

At Sequoyah Lake House, the stay resolves into something shared – time that gathers everyone in, at the table, on the porch, by the water. Book your stay at OldEdwardsInn.com/Residences.
