Join us on the banks of the historic French Broad River for the Forks of the River Fly Fishing Festival—a celebration of fishing, fellowship, and the vibrant outdoor culture of Western North Carolina.
Known as the “Cheers” of Bookstores, the Bookworm in Highlands is affiliated with the Hudson Library: all books are donated; all staff are volunteers; and all funds go to help support the library. More than a retail store, we are a community service offering carefully sorted donated books to provide the best quality at a used bookstore price.

The mission of the Food Pantry of Highlands is to provide nutritious food to anyone who meets the income eligibility guidelines for USDA food. In the winter months, the economies of Highlands and Cashiers slow to a standstill. This, combined with increased heating costs, drains funds from the family budget that would normally be spent on food.
