This popular community event returns monthly on Thursday nights from 6:30–8:30 p.m., bringing neighbors together while supporting local charities and nonprofits. Each evening’s proceeds benefit a different organization, making it a fun and meaningful way to give back to the Plateau.
Join us for a wonderful, driving tour of the winding, and scenic roads of Western North Carolina mountain. Two tour groups daily with a longer more spirited drive on Thursday and the shorter more casual paced drive on Friday.
Over the decades, The Church of the Good Shepherd’s annual Bazaar has earned a regional reputation. It’s only natural that it’s mushroomed into the year-round Bazaar Barn, 118 US Hwy 64 West (at Shoppes on the Green).
Known as the “Cheers” of Bookstores, the Bookworm in Highlands is affiliated with the Hudson Library: all books are donated; all staff are volunteers; and all funds go to help support the library. More than a retail store, we are a community service offering carefully sorted donated books to provide the best quality at a used bookstore price.
On Friday evening, spectators will gather along Main Street in Highlands to watch over a hundred classic cars cruise by, driven just as they were meant to be. This event is always free for both spectators and participants.
The Highlands Farmers Market returns to Kelsey-Hutchinson Founders Park most Saturdays from 8:00 A.M. to Noon.
Shop fresh produce, baked goods, and local favorites while enjoying the open-air charm of spring on the Plateau.
Highlands Motoring Festival’s centerpiece event, Classics in the Park judged car show, occurs on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Kelsey-Hutchinson Founders Park, just steps from Main Street. The Featured Theme for 2026 is "America verses England- Corvette verses Jaguar". Organizers expect 85 total entrants, including approximately twenty-four examples of Corvettes and Jaguars finest. More than 2,500 visitors are expected on show day.
