The Highlands Chamber of Commerce was pleased to join the Hudson Library Foundation, community leaders, supporters and donors yesterday for a ribbon cutting celebrating the new outdoor pavilion and nature trail.

The Bascom: A Center for the Visual Arts has entered the public phase of Framing the Future, a campaign to enclose and expand The Terrace as a year-round gathering space and to strengthen the organization’s endowment for generations to come. The Bascom is inviting neighbors to take part as they close in on their overall goal of six million.

Mountain Theatre Company’s SHOWSTOPPERS! is exactly what its title promises: a fast, glittering rush through the musical moments audiences never forget.Presented as a high-energy, 90-minute multimedia spectacular, the production celebrates the songs, dances, and cinematic images that have made Broadway and Hollywood musicals part of our shared cultural memory.

Juried exhibition brings 20 craft makers from across Western North Carolina to Highlands, May 16–July 25

The Bascom: A Center for the Visual Arts will open a new exhibition by Photography Resident Dean Kessmann on Saturday, April 18, 2026, in the Joel Gallery, with a free public artist talk at 3:00 p.m. Kessmann is a Professor of Photography at The George Washington University’s Corcoran School of the Arts and Design who spent his spring 2026 sabbatical in residence at The Bascom, his first formal artist residency in nearly two decades.

As Highlands prepares to celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary, the Highlands Chamber of Commerce/Visit Highlands, NC has partnered with the Town of Highlands to add patriotic touches throughout the community.
