Mountaintop Rotary is bringing the excitement of pickleball back to the plateau when they sponsor their 3rd Annual Highlands Pickleball on the Plateau tournament, September 25–27, at Highlands Recreation Park.
This year’s event will be bigger than ever, expanding to include all ages, so expect to see spry youngsters and seasoned veterans showing off their skills while raising money for community youth programs.
Last year, competitors came from as far away as Florida, Alabama, and Virginia, and this year organizers anticipate an expanded field of 150–175 entrants.
Camaraderie, friendly competition, and steady energy will carry the weekend. Those distinctive pops of paddles and the squeak of sneakers will fill the courts as players hustle for the perfect shot.
On Friday, September 25, an afternoon youth tournament invites young players from across the plateau and beyond to join the fun. Mountaintop Rotary’s event chair, Dr. Sue Aery, is especially excited about this addition, which encourages more youth to become involved in the sport.

On Saturday, September 26, a men’s and women’s round‑robin tournament begins at 8:00 A.M. and continues until all play concludes. On Sunday, September 27, the tournament wraps up with mixed‑doubles round‑robin play. Each tournament is divided into skill levels, from beginner to advanced.
Mountaintop Rotary encourages the entire community to join the fun throughout the weekend. Food trucks will be on hand, offering a chance to watch pickleball and enjoy a picnic at the park. Organizers expect a lively day of community spirit, athleticism, and shared enjoyment.
Community members and businesses have supported this important cause by becoming event sponsors or donating raffle prizes.
Mountaintop Rotary raises money throughout the year to fund its charitable work. Every dollar supports local youth programs. In past years, the club has supported the Highlands School Fund, the Boys & Girls Club of the Plateau, PAC Educational Theatre, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cashiers‑Highlands, scholarships for local high schoolers, Shop with a Cop, Gordon Youth Center, The Kids Place, and many more.
Enjoy a beautiful autumn weekend, join the pickleball craze, and plan to compete in—or cheer on—this tournament while supporting area youth.
