Dr. Tom Jones and Dr. Christopher Dyer
Here on the Plateau, we are fortunate to have access to exceptional dental care thanks to Dr. Christopher Dyer, Dr. Tom Jones, and the dedicated team at Highlands Dental Care. They provide advanced preventive, surgical, restorative, and cosmetic dentistry in a warm, welcoming environment that immediately puts patients at ease.
Dr. Dyer was already calling Highlands home, having moved here from Auburn, Alabama, when the opportunity arose to continue the practice established by Dr. Fred Rodenbeck. He brought with him a wealth of education, experience, and a genuine passion for dentistry, a passion he discovered only after receiving a degree in chemical engineering from Vanderbilt University.
Realizing he was drawn to working with people, Dr. Dyer chose a different career path and earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in Birmingham. His commitment to preventive care and his expertise in providing treatment options for both routine and complex dental needs continue to inspire his work every day.
He and his wife Rachel chose to make Highlands home because they loved the area’s natural beauty, outdoor recreation, and close-knit community. They knew it was the perfect place to raise their family, which now includes three children – two in high school and one in college.
When he’s not caring for patients, Dr. Dyer spends his free time coaching basketball, hiking, biking, swimming, spending time outdoors, and, most of all, making memories with his family.
Dr. Jones joined the practice in 2022. Originally from Jackson, Ohio, he completed both his undergraduate studies and dental school at Ohio State University. After graduation, he moved to Florida and opened a practice in Palm City, where he enjoyed serving patients for over 30 years. During that time, he was able to gain expertise from advanced education programs such as the Dawson Academy, Pankey Institute in Miami, and the Spear Continuum.
While living in Florida and raising two children with his wife Patty, his family spent 20 summers at their Lake Glenville home. They were excited when they could finally make their dream of moving to the mountains a permanent reality. Now living in Highlands full‑time, he takes pride in being involved in the community and is an active member of Mountaintop Rotary and his church.
He and Patty also enjoy hiking, kayaking, and boating on Lake Glenville, and they love exploring the great restaurants in Highlands and Cashiers, as well as getting away to visit their son and daughter in Austin and Seattle as often as possible.
