As autumn settles over the Highlands-Cashiers Plateau and the mountains begin to glow with brilliant fall color, the Highlands Biological Foundation is getting ready for one of its favorite annual traditions: Highlands on the Half-Shell.
Guests are invited to gather on Sunday, October 4, from 4:00 P.M. until dusk at Valentine Meadow at the Highlands Biological Station (888 Horse Cove Road) for a memorable evening of food, fellowship, and philanthropy.
This beloved fundraiser brings a taste of Louisiana to the mountains, featuring fresh steamed oysters, Cajun-inspired fare, refreshing beverages, and a relaxed outdoor setting framed by the beauty of the season.
A special highlight of Highlands on the Half-Shell is the remarkable community spirit that makes the event possible. Foundation board members, dedicated volunteers, and local supporters all pitch in to create a welcoming experience for every guest.
Whether they are preparing and serving food, organizing the event, or greeting attendees, their efforts reflect a deep commitment to the Highlands Biological Foundation’s mission and to the natural resources that make our region so special.
Proceeds from Highlands on the Half-Shell directly support environmental education, scientific research, and community outreach across the Highlands-Cashiers Plateau. Funds raised help sustain operations and programming at the Highlands Nature Center, provide educational opportunities and scholarships for students, and expand programs that connect people of all ages with the rich biodiversity of our mountain ecosystems.
Tickets are $150 per person and include all food and beverages. Attendance is limited, and this event often reaches capacity, so we’re urging you to act quickly.
